Aaron Judge was oh, so close to making history Thursday night.
With the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox tied 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Judge sent a blast into deep center as the fans rose from their seats, ready to become part of Major League Baseball history.
“Aaron Judge … midfield … back … Hernandez is there,” Fox Play’s play-by-play man Adam Amin said on the broadcast.
Red Sox outfielder Kiki Hernandez hit the warning track and the crowd let out a loud roar in unison.
The Yankees’ Aaron Judge came close to tying Roger Maris’ AL HR record
Aaron Judge was just feet away from hitting his 61st homer of the season and winning the game for the New York Yankees in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Boston Red Sox.
Judge will get another shot at tying Roger Maris’ American League home run record of 61 Friday night when the Yankees take on the Red Sox in the second game of this three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm ET on Apple TV+.
