Top promoter Bob Arum chats with Fight Hype about Shakur Stevenson’s future before fielding questions about the much-hyped fight between Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Ryan Garcia.
Now, obviously, the fight between Tank and Garcia has yet to be officially announced, but both fighters are sure to do their best to hint on social media. So when asked about his thoughts on a possible matchup, Arum explains why he thinks this fight won’t happen in the end.
Arum who thinks he will win between Tank and Garcia.
“I think the people will win (if they fight) because it’s a good fight.” But, again, I don’t see that fight happening. The truth is, I don’t see it happening. But, again, if the fight happens it’s a good fight and it’s hard to really pick a winner at this point.
He does not think why the struggle will not be fruitful.
Because every guy is important to the company. And unless the rewards are huge, it’s hard to get a company to take on a risky fight. And the reward doesn’t seem that big to me at this point. And look at Floyd’s career — Floyd was really content to take easy fights and build up to big fights where he could make a lot of money.
“And that plan, as I see it, is what they have planned for ‘Tank’ Davis. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I don’t think they’re going to put Davis against Garcia at this point because it’s a fight they’re not sure he’s going to win.
