Caroline Garcia and Ons Jaber advanced to the semi-finals of the 2022 US Open on Tuesday. In the first semi-final, he defeated fifth seed Ajla Tomjanovic of Tunisia 6-4, 7-6(4) in one hour and 41 minutes.
The opening set featured three exchanges of breaks, two of which came on the Australian serve. Jaber took a break in the third game, but gave it back in the sixth game to tie the game at three.
However, Tomljanovic was unable to consolidate the break back and Jaber came back to take the game back. After three games, Jaber took the match to 15. The second set saw both players struggling to hold serve.
In the first and fifth games, Jaber twice took the lead but fell behind on both occasions when Tomljanovic finished at the break. A break on Jaber’s serve in the eighth game gave Toljanovic a chance to serve for the set and level the proceedings, but she was broken at love.
In a parallel-break, both players trade mini-breaks with Jabeur on the first match point, before cashing in big on her serve. In the year The 2022 Wimbledon finalist hit 29 winners, more than double Tomjanovic’s 12, and had 30 unforced errors, six more than the latter’s 24.

Meanwhile, in the second semi-final, 17th seed Garcia beat 12th seed Coco Gauff 6-3, 6-4 in 37 minutes. Gauff had no way of converting the first set as Garcia secured a 4-0 lead.
However, while serving to build a 5-0 lead in the second break, Garcia lost her grip on the game for a few minutes before Gauff finally got on the scoreboard. There was no reluctance from the Frenchwoman after that and she served out the set in the ninth game.
The second set continued in the same manner as the first, with the only difference being that Gauff only had one break of service in the opening game. Garcia consolidated the break and held her own serve to secure the match in the 10th game.
Garcia had 24 winners and 22 unforced errors while Gauff had 18 winners and 24 unforced errors. The 28-year-old scored 78% for the first time, while the American won 64%. Garcia was especially effective at the net, scoring 13 of her 16 points.
By comparison, Gauff struggled in net, winning six of his 11 points in that zone. Both Ons Jabeur and Caroline Garcia are semifinalists for the first time at the US Open.
