Although Florida State capitalized on mistakes and rumbled back, it was LSU who made the final mistake in Sunday night’s 24-23 victory over the Seminoles at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Trailing 24-10 in the fourth quarter, the Tigers scored the game’s final 13 points, but a blocked extra point with no time left gave them a chance to come back in overtime.
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels hit Jaray Jenkins with 1 second left for the game-tying score to end a 99-yard drive that began with an FSU goal-line fumble. But Damian Ramos’ extra point was blocked with just overtime to beat the Noles.
The only reason LSU had a chance to tie it late was when Brian Thomas Jr. was first thrown out of bounds at the 1-yard line with one second remaining. A replay showed he was in bounds, but LSU fumbled the ball away to get the final play in regulation.
CBS Sports will update this story with game details and takeaways from the LSU-FSU meeting.
