Ethan Kizer has made his college decision.
The Metamora senior gave a verbal commitment Friday via social media to play Division-I basketball at South Alabama. On the post, the 6-foot-6 Hull-State guard wore a red South Alabama jersey and wrote the caption, “Burn the boats.”
He received his scholarship offer from the Sun Belt Conference school in Mobile, Ala., on Tuesday.
Kizer helped lead Metamoran to the Class 3A state championship last March, finishing second to Springfield St. Hart-Griffin in a double-overtime instant classic. He averaged 12.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, shooting 43.2% from the field and 38.7% from behind the arc.

In July, Kizer cleared up reports of college programs pulling scholarship offers.
“These were just big rumors,” Kizer said. “Other schools are trying to get into my head, I guess.”
Kizer previously announced offers to Bradley, Illinois State, Southeast Missouri State, Illinois-Chicago, Morehead State, Toledo and Eastern Illinois through social media offers. He was a first-team All-Mid-Illini Conference pick and a Journal Star All-Star selection for the Redbirds, who finished 30-7 and outscored the Mid-Illini 13-1.
Metamora will open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 4:30 p.m. against defending Class 1A state champion Yorkville Christian in the championship game of the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament in Washington.
