Norway’s Matias Norman will not be considered for international duty after recently joining an undisclosed Russian club, the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) said on Monday.
Norway coach Stahl Solbakken informed Norman that he will not be invited to the next team meeting on Monday.
The 26-year-old midfielder Norman is returning to Russia after a season on loan at Norwich City, with most foreign players leaving Russia following the country’s invasion of Ukraine in February.
Norman, who has 12 caps for Norway, previously played for Russian club FC Rostov.
“All Norwegian and European football agree to put joint pressure on Russia as a fighting party,” NFF president Liz Klavens said in a statement.
