WBO junior featherweight champion Segolene Lefebvre pulled out of her second title defense in October due to an injury to her right hand.
Lefvre posted the news on Instagram on Monday, saying, “First metacarpal fracture required emergency surgery,” according to the caption of the post.
She is scheduled to defend her loss against Alondra Garcia (21-4-1, 1 KO) at L’Hippodrome De Douai on October 29, her only loss in world title fights.
The 29-year-old Lefebvre, who is ESPN’s No. 3-ranked fighter in the division, hopes to return to the ring by March.
Lefebvre (16-0, 1 KO) won the belt last year by defeating Paulette Valenzuela by unanimous decision. Melania then defended her belt by defeating Sorochen by unanimous decision.
