The Stinger meta is coming.
The Stinger buff may be coming in Valorant patch 5.06, according to notes for the latest public approval environment.
The Stinger is already enjoying something of a resurgence in Champions League 2022, with players getting ridiculous value from the 950 credit submachine gun.
It’s emerged as the weapon of choice for low-end buys, and teams like Leviathan have shown an uncanny ability to make the weapon work against the most expensive Phantoms and Vandals.
As a result, many were expecting the device to be included in the next patch. Instead, Riot Games is going in the opposite direction, gunning for more accuracy.
Stinger buff makes the gun more lethal
The Stinger was designed as a short-range weapon. But unlike the Spectre, it’s more limited in range with a spray pattern that can’t be seriously useful.
Riot wants the gun to be “controllable at short range and feel really deadly,” and thinks the spray is currently too “out of control.” To overcome that, the rifle is reducing the upper spread to make it more reliable at close range.
ADS fire has been tweaked to be more accurate, and Riot is reducing initial shot variance, making the weapon slightly more viable in ADS mode.
Here are the changes:
Primary fire error adjusted from 1.6 error after 7 shots to 1.3 error after 6 shots Alt fire initial shot error adjusted from 0.5 to 0.35
At only 950 credits, the Stinger is one of those low-buy, money-for-money weapons that beat out more extreme guns like the Bucky.
Having already shown how good the weapon can be in the right hands at the Championships, the teams seem ready to bring a formidable new Stinger meta.
