A great match attracts spectators. A good game awaits them all around.
Thursday night’s home opener by the Rams averaged more than 21 million viewers, according to Sports Business Journal’s Austin Karp.
That’s a nearly 20 percent decrease from last year’s viewership for the first game between the Cowboys and Buccaneers, with 26 million.
Texans at Chiefs made 21.6 million in 2020, and Packers at Bears made 22.7 million in 2019.
Last night was the lowest since 2018 when the Falcons and Eagles played in front of 19.6 million TV viewers.
This year, the Cowboys and Buccaneers start the season in prime time. It will be interesting to see if the attendance meets or exceeds last year’s 26 million.
