Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua’s representatives are working “positive” on a contract for the British super-fight.
But time is of the essence if the rival heavyweights are to end up boxing in December.
George Warren, Tyson Fury’s UK promoters, told Sky Sports from Queensberry: “We’re still talking. It’s all very friendly at the moment. We’re having hot discussions this week. Hopefully we’ll get going. We’re all working hard to move forward.
No deadline has been set for the parties to reach an agreement, but in reality, if a fight of this magnitude is to be held in December, it should be confirmed soon.
“A little bit longer, I’m not going to put a timeline on it. We really want to know what we’re going to do, what Tyson is going to do,” Warren said.
“There’s no, but or maybe Tyson fight at the end of this year. Schedule-wise, timing-wise, it looks like it could work for both fighters. As we’re talking, everything’s very friendly, everything’s fine. So far and fingers crossed for the British fighter.” Fans, we will get some good news soon.
Macharum Joshua’s promotion company has accepted the contract for the fight, but they are looking to amend certain points in the deal.
“It’s not unusual to get a contract where you’re not connected to the moon – and it wasn’t to play games or anything. It’s really down to the format of the deal, which is being adjusted and we’re working positively to try and get that shape right and with the deal,” Matchrum promoter Eddie Hearn told IDBoxing. I think we’re getting there,” he said.
“[The contract] Of course it wasn’t what we expected, but that was a few days ago and we had some positive conversations. Shaping that up a bit, that sounds positive.
A key issue to be resolved will be the broadcast rights for the fight as both boxers will be lined up for different arenas.
“We still have a long way to go. Obviously, the broadcasters have to have their discussions. There’s not much to tell you other than that both teams are doing everything they can to try and find a way to resolve the issue, within the time frame,” Hearn said.
“I’m worried about Mahmoud Char saying he’s fighting Tyson Fury on December 3rd, so we’ve got to move fast. But I’m still telling him to make the fight. We’re ready to try and make it happen.”
