Whether he’s hitting the green or attending an event, Patrick Reed always has the support of his wife, Justine Reed.
The couple first met when the pro golfer was a freshman at the University of Georgia, but didn’t actually start dating until years later.
The two tied the knot in December 2012, and since then, Justin has been by Patrick’s side for many of his career events. In fact, Justin has served as a full-time caddy since its inception.
After two years of marriage, the couple welcomed their first child together in 2014 and their second child together in 2017.
From her athletic background to how her romance with Patrick began, here’s everything you need to know about the golfer’s wife.
She and Patrick Reed have known each other since college
In an interview with Golf Digest, Patrick first met Justin when he was a freshman at the University of Georgia — although he wasn’t chasing Justin at the time. He had a date with Justine’s younger sister, Kris, who was visiting from LSU. After they met, he reached out to Justin on Facebook when he didn’t hear back from her.
“I wrote a text. [Kris] To make sure she got home safely. There is no answer. So I found Justin on Facebook, his sister confirmed that he was back and told me clearly why it wasn’t working, he told the publication. “So I started talking to Justin, who I knew was the one. An incredibly driven guy who was working to become a nurse and pursuing a dual degree. We kept talking as the years went by; then we started dating. Best decision of my life.”
The couple got married at the age of 22 over the objections of his parents who felt they were too young to marry. (Since then they have been estranged from the family.)
She was once Patrick Reed’s caddy.
After meeting and falling out with Patrick, Justine keeps her job as a nurse while he pursues a career in golf. Patrick told Golf Digest that his first days driving around the country on various tours were “brutal.”
“Under her caddy, we went six-for-eight that year on Monday on the PGA Tour. For her to put her dreams aside to support me, I’ll never forget that. I hope one day I can be half the person she is,” he said.
When Justine became pregnant with their first child, she retired as the official caddy, while her brother Kessler Karain took over the job full-time.
She and Patrick Reed have two children
Patrick and Justin have two children, a daughter named Windsor Wells was born on May 22, 2014, and a son named Barrett Benjamin was born on December 6, 2017. Patrick has hinted a lot about their family on social media and it was their daughter. Even alongside Patrick when he beat Barclays in 2016.
She is very athletic
Even though Justine has a background as a nurse, she is just as athletic as her husband. In addition to playing golf in high school, she was a “standout swimmer and soccer player” in her hometown of Houston, Texas, according to Golf.com.
She is not active on social media.
While Patrick offers occasional glimpses of his family on Instagram and Twitter, Justin doesn’t seem to have any active personal social media profiles.
